Courting Erin by Ambrosia

“You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” (Winnie The Pooh) There are more ways than one to go about meeting people, starting a new friendship, or finding someone to spend the rest of your life with, but I think that Courtney Calloway takes The Pooh’s advise a little far when she decides that she needs a wife.

Courtney seeks out Erin Tucker at a night club and, after a number of drinks, Erin say yes when Courtney asks if Erin will marry her and woops … that same night a marriages certificate is obtained!

Yes, I do agree it is a highly unlikely scenario, but if you don’t make too much fuss about it, you might like the subsequent romantic storyline.

“Courting Erin” is really about needing someone to be close to and enjoy life with, but not really being able to find that someone. You could say that Courtney takes desperate measures in use when she not only “tricks” a drunken Erin to marry her, but also offers her 1 million dollars to stay married for 6 month, and no … it’s not hot sex deal she is after. I’ll say that Courtney is just following The Pooh’s advice; you’ll see that she has good reason to do so.

Courtney and Erin set up life together in Erin’s apartment in San Francisco and, for Erin, life with Courtney is full of new possibilities. For Courtney, the marriage proves to be just what she needs, as the bonds they create finally make Courtney wish to change her path in life, even if it seems impossible for her to do so.

The story is well written, it has some romantic moments and, even though there are things to feel sad about, you’ll get the chance of a good laugh as the story is quite funny at times. It’s not the greatest story “out there”, but it kept me entertained for a while. You might like it, too.
